Enabling the Syslog Listener

The Syslog listener must be enabled to collect data for the Syslog Entries report.

The Syslog listener cannot be enabled through the web interface; it must be enabled in the WhatsUp Gold console.

To enable the Syslog listener:

1. Select Configure > Program Options.  The Program Options dialog opens.
2. Select Passive Monitors Listeners.
3. Select Syslog, then click Configure. The Syslog Listener Configuration dialog opens.
4. Select Listen for messages on port and enter a port number to enable the Syslog Listener.
5. To collect data on unsolicited events as well, select Accept Unsolicited passive monitors.
6. Click OK.
